Alder Trust is based at 103 Firgrove Rd, Shirley, Southampton SO15 3ET
The Aldertrust believes that every community can thrive through recognising the knowledge, skills and talents within that community, and by harnessing that wealth through building relational networks that recognise and serve each other.
OUR VALUES
We are passionate about creating hope, supporting families, and growing self-sustaining communities. This may involve replicating successes or provoking change through innovation. In essence, our focus is people; our priority is finding ways we can support communities to be safe, while making their contribution towards everyone’s enjoyment of the fullness of life. Alder Trust seeks to cultivate inclusive, accessible, agile, sustainable and transformational projects.
WHAT WE DO
We design, advise on, and deliver community-based solutions to presenting needs and challenges. We build relationships; we network; we look for gaps; we engage and integrate – applying corporate sector expertise to enable communities to better thrive. Our work connects us with multiple initiatives across the region and we provide consultancy, research, project delivery support, and network events. We promote the work of others alongside developing and leading on our own services.
Here are some of our services:
Firgrove – Firgrove offers free support and information for those facing an unintended pregnancy as well as pre and post-abortion, miscarriage and baby loss counselling. We are helping develop and grow their existing services.
HOPE COMMUNITY SCHOOL
In 2013, it was recognised that the centre of Southampton needed a new primary school. New Generations Schools Trust and two local Churches partnered to open a new Free School. Dave supported the application process through recruitment and engagement of local businesses securing the support of a major retailer. The school plans to open in September 2017 welcoming 60 children into two Reception classes. It will be Southampton’s first mainstream Free School.

SUPERVISED CONTACT FOR LOOKED AFTER CHILDREN (Solent NHS Trust)
The BRS work with children & young people with behavioural difficulties, many who are in care and need supervised contact with parents on a regular basis. We helped to identify various spaces across the city for these supervised sessions to help reduce costs and travel for the families.
SAFEGUARDING NETWORK
Our network aims to equip faith communities for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. We run quarterly events focusing on a variety of different topics relevant to helping improve Safeguarding in our city
UNDER 5’S DEVELOPMENT (Community Playlink)
We created a working group focusing on how to improve Parent and Toddler Groups increasing the development for child under the age of 5. Through this we supported the work of Community Playlink.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
We provide programmes to encourage communities to talk more about healthy relationships; to empower self-worth and self-esteem, to dispel myths and to encourage a culture of communication.
PURPLE DOORWAY
The counselling programme, Purple Doorway, is designed to take a client, who has been impacted by abortion, on a supported journey. Taking each new step at the right pace for them, the programme leads them to a doorway of hope – The Purple Doorway – into a new life. Each step builds on the last and the whole programme facilitates a gentle, respectful and uplifting review of life, releasing hope and healing.
