Asda Foundation U18 Better Start Grants Grants of up to £1,500 are available for projects supporting under 18s. This year, Asda Foundation are focusing on four areas related to rising cost of living and supporting children over the summer holidays: supporting essentials, being active, improving wellbeing and celebrating/bringing children together.Types of Support:It could be providing essential food over the school holidays or a new uniform and sports kit ahead of a new school year. It could be bringing children together to celebrate what’s important to them, reducing feelings of isolation. Perhaps you are looking to run a holiday book club or cooking classes at your local community allotment, teaching children how to grow their own vegetables and educating them about healthy eating and where food comes from. Or a local sports club looking for funding to update equipment ahead of your summer camp, aimed at keeping children active and maintaining mental wellbeing during the school holidays Click on this link for more details: https://www.asdafoundation.org/documents/U18_Better_Starts_Grant_Round_2_Group_Guidance.pdf Group Criteria Groups applying must meet all the following criteria: o Group must have a presence in and benefit the local community o Any equipment funded is the property of the group and is not for individual use o End beneficiaries must be community groups of people, under the age of 18 o Must be not for profit o There is no minimum timescale for how long the group has been in existence This grant is unable to support: o Groups based outside the UK o Groups where the end beneficiary is an animal o Individual people o Any activities for people age 18 or over. Please review the guidelines for our Empowering Local Communities to support people 18 or over o Schools, but non-profit PTAs, Parent Councils, and “Friends of..” groups are welcome to apply for extracurricular activity/funding needs. o Groups which charge more than a nominal fee to participate (i.e. membership charges). o Third-party grant-making organisations.
