BEAMZ Bikes, are lightweight, high-performance bikes, made in Hampshire from the world’s most sustainable woodland practices and materials.
BEAMZ Bikes are made from hollowed coppiced wood poles that are lightweight, shock-absorbing and as strong as steel, aluminium or carbon fibre. Unlike the metal bikes, the Beamz Bikes are carbon negative and oxygen positive, not only have they already absorbed some 1.5 KG of CO2 from the atmosphere they have also breathed 1.07KG oxygen and additional water vapour. The frame joints are reinforced with hemp fibre impregnated with bio-derived resins. Beamz Bikes are extremely eco friendly and the coppice wood harvesting process, an ancient form of woodland management, enhances wildlife biodiversity and is completely beyond sustainable, they are regenerative, rather like cycling. This particular BEAMZ bike is made from hollowed Birch poles, with hemp and natural resin reinforced joints.
BEAMZ is a not-for-profit social enterprise.
It is similar to a company in as much as it sustains itself financially by selling products (bikes etc.) but whereas the purpose of a company is to create a financial return or profit for the owners or shareholders, the purpose of a social enterprise is to create social returns or impacts.
The objective of BEAMZ is to synergistically create three vital impacts.
Reducing climate change, supporting wildlife diversity and supporting wellbeing.
