The Macmillan Information and Support Centre are looking for cancer support volunteers to join our dedicated, friendly team.
The Macmillan Information and Support Centre aims to provide comprehensive information and holistic support to anyone affected by cancer in a safe and welcoming environment. In 2019 the Macmillan Centre reached almost 13000 people affected by cancer, providing information and support along with offering services to people such as complementary therapies, supportive listening, counselling and welfare benefits advice.
We are looking for cancer support volunteers to welcome and support patients visiting our centre.
This role requires excellent communication skills; you must enjoy talking and listening to people, have a friendly and relaxed attitude to welcome people
Be compassionate and able to adopt a non-judgemental attitude and share a willingness to make a difference to the lives of others.
We ask that all of our valued volunteers have the ability to recognise their own limitations and ask for help from centre staff when required and have the ability to commit to volunteering for at least three hours per week.
Various shifts are available, covering the hours of: Monday to Friday, 10am – 1pm; 11am – 2pm or 1pm – 4pm
