We have a wide variety of tasks available for you to choose from. This ranges from light duties to some heavier tree work: • Litter picking • Path widening • Pond Lily Clearance • Wildflower / meadow survey • Copse clearance • Removal of invasive species • Tree clearance • Tree planting (Autumn/winter) • Path laying Timetable: We usually run the event as follows: 10.00: Arrival + Introductions 10.10: Leave centre: Lock up + take tools to site 10.20: Tool box talk/task introduction/begin work 12.30: Break for lunch 13.15: End lunch. Head back to task 3.30: Pack down tools. Head back to Centre clean up. 4.00: End of day. Health and Safety All tools will be provided to carry out the work, and tool box safety talks will be given prior to a task. Please read the Risk Assessment, if you have any questions or concerns please speak to a member of the Sholing Valleys team. We are covered by Public Liability Insurance. We suggest that people wear clothing that will cover their arms and legs to protect from the brambles, hawthorn and other spiky things! Footwear like sturdy walking boots, wellingtons, or robust trainers are best. Please bring your own sun cream and water. Sholing Valleys volunteers are trained outdoor first aiders. Getting here We ask that people use sustainable forms of transport to reach the site. We are located on Station Road, in Sholing, Southampton. We are served by the Number 3 bus from First. It passes by every ten minutes. We are less than 0.1 miles from the Sholing train station. We do have a small car park for those that are unable to use public transport, walk or cycle.
