|About the Position|
❖ To be on duty (times negotiable) to answer the PSL phone line
❖ The aim is to offer support to people calling the PSL line, by giving factual information over the phone, or agreeing to send written information as required.
❖ The volunteer working the line will offer support to people experiencing the effects of another person’s drug/alcohol use, by offering a listening service.
❖ Volunteers will also, when appropriate, refer the callers to other agencies.
❖ Our service is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days per year
❖ Shifts/times will be negotiated to suit the volunteer and the agency
Place of work
❖ PSL operates a call divert system – which is manage by our administrator.
❖ Calls can be taken either on a mobile or at the office
❖ Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed on a monthly basis
❖ Ability to listen, and to be non-judgmental at all times
❖ Have an empathic outlook to the issues surrounding drug/alcohol use
❖ Willingness to undertake training and supervision as offered by PSL
❖ Ability to work as part of the team
❖ Ability to work to the guidelines of PSL
