Friends of St James’ Park (FoSJP) is looking for new trustees.
Do you have some time to spare and would be willing to serve as a trustee for St James Park? Do you have some good ideas to support the local community and would like to help shape what happens in the park?
We are a Registered Charity looking for new trustees to join our Management Committee.
Our aim is to enhance the lives of both the local and the wider community in Southampton by the provision of recreational facilities. Prior to the current crisis, we ran various support groups for vulnerable people in the local area. We also held annual events for families in Southampton such as our Easter Fair, our Summer Festival, and our dog show. Since the first lockdown in early spring when it became necessary to suspend our usual activities, we have been supporting the local community by keeping people informed and engaged. We also transitioned to direct support for those in the local area, who needed it, with the provision of food, toiletries, and cleaning products.
We are a friendly group who, prior to the current pandemic, met on a regular basis to conduct our official business. In addition, the trustees took a more active role in the smooth running of the park by voluntarily carrying out various tasks which further contributed towards our aims. During the present crisis, we have continued to meet and conduct our official business via Zoom meetings.
If you are interested in joining our management team, please apply online and the Community Volunteer Co-ordinator, Marina will then contact you for a chat over the phone.
Please note that, because we are a Registered Charity, we have a selection process for trustee candidates which includes references and background checks.
