Time to Thrive helps people of all ages to improve their wellbeing and progress actions to make the most of life. Courses and coaching equip participants with inspiration, ideas, encouragement, tools and support to plan and implement changes in a positive and mutually supportive way. Courses are a combination of teaching, coaching and mutual support.
We also offer one to one coaching support.
All courses are currently operating via Zoom. Courses for young people and other bespoke courses can be arranged on request.
The following course will start as soon as minimum number of 6 are signed up and a mutually agreeable time agreed.
Time to Thrive – Thriving Beyond Covid – provides learning, inspiration and support to take a positive and proactive approach to making the most of now. In the course we explore ways of:
- strengthening our immune systems (and improving sleep)
- managing our emotions and improving our mood, and
- strengthening our foundations for ever-improving wellbeing and life experience.
There are two legs to the course:
- Learning: exploring the physical, emotional, and social factors that contribute to strengthening the immune system, boosting our wellbeing and making the most of life. Going more in depth in particular factors including managing our emotions
- Developing: discussing, evolving and sharing ideas, and progressing action.
The course is open to anyone who would like to give themselves a boost and take positive steps at this time. The course normally runs for 6 X 2-2.5 hours sessions (but other options are possible).
Time to Thrive – Foundation Course
The course focusses on understanding what enables us to thrive and taking practical action to draw on our best and make a difference in any or all areas of our lives. The course draws on life and work coaching, positive psychology, CBT, neuroscience, adventure and sports performance, mindfulness, lessons from nature, etc. Sessions include:
What enables us to thrive
- Self-care, self-compassion and mutual support
- Tools for accessing our best
- Personal action planning, and more
The course normally runs for 6 X 2-2.5 hours sessions (but other options are possible).
Life Coaching with the Wheel of Life
This Life Coaching group will enable you to work out and make progress towards changes that will make the biggest positive difference in your life. The course will be based around The Wheel of Life (sometimes called “The Life Balance Wheel”); a powerful tool for personal development.
As a participant you will:
- Look at different facets of life and how they contribute to our own individual wellbeing
- Consider how to make changes in the areas that will make the biggest difference
- Work out specific steps to make these life affirming changes
- Find ways of progressing that release your inner resourcefulness
- Move beyond reluctancy and towards inspiration and positive enthusiasm
The course normally runs as a 6-8 hour course over 3 sessions a few weeks apart (but other options are possible).

The courses are a great way to feel more empowered and connected in your life and participation is a way of building companionship and solidarity between members of a new or existing group. All groups have a large amount of flexibility to respond to the particular needs of the individuals of the groups and to concentrate of the concerns and interests of individuals.

Course leader:
The class will be led by Esther Ridsdale. Esther has 20 years experience supporting individuals and organisations clarify their big picture and tap into their resourcefulness in addressing their challenges and opportunities in a practical and fun way. She will draw on her work as a personal and organizational coach (International Coaching Federation Accredited training), facilitator, leader and teaching adventurous activities as well as from her own personal life journey. Her credentials include International Coaching Federation Coach Training, Certificate in Counselling (Southampton Uni), Human Systems Dynamics Practitioner, & Mental Health First Aider. And for youth, Southampton City Council youth worker, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Open Centre and Mountain Leader, youth club leader and special needs ski instructor.
For larger groups and to give additional support Esther draws on the support of experienced colleagues including Dr Claudius Van Wyk and Dr Sue Kenneally (details on request).
Costs:
Open courses are £140 per person for a 6 session course or £70 for 3 sessions. (Sessions are 2-2.5 hours.) Cost for exclusive groups can be agreed. As Feb 2021, there is funding to offer a limited number of places on Thriving Beyond Covid for £10/session and less for concessions.
